BC First Responders’ Mental Health Committee holds workshop

A Richmond, B.C., workshop to tackle mental health issues experienced by first responders took place on Oct. 23. The sold-out Building Resilient Workplaces workshop was organized by the BC First Responders’ Mental Health Committee, a multi-agency committee representing labour and management.


Construction contract approved for new Niagara Falls fire station

The construction contract for a new fire station in Niagara Falls was approved by city council Tuesday evening. The cost of the project is $7.2 million. To accommodate the station, a new truck will need to be purchased for an estimated $1.1 million.


Mandatory WCB coverage for volunteer departments coming to Nova Scotia

On Thursday, the Nova Scotia government said it is amending the legislation governing the Workers' Compensation Board to make it mandatory for municipalities to pay for the coverage of volunteer fire department members in their respective jurisdictions.
